Biography
Family, faith, and forward motion — the three things that have never changed
Where It Started
Wilmington, Delaware — 1975
I was born on November 10, 1975, in Wilmington, Delaware, to William “Larry” Mosby Jr. and Dawn A. Basten. My earliest memories are filled with family — cousins running through the house, aunts and uncles always around, and a feeling that the people in your life aren’t something you choose. They’re something you protect. Those early years in Wilmington shaped everything about how I see the world, and especially the way I think about what it means to stay connected to the people who matter.
The Formative Years
Alamogordo, New Mexico
Around the age of ten, my family moved to Alamogordo, New Mexico. I spent my entire teenage years there and stayed until I was twenty-one. Those years built something in me that no classroom could have — a work ethic, a sense of independence, and the understanding that if you want something in this life, you go build it yourself.
Career & Calling
From the Kitchen to the Server Room
At sixteen, I stepped into the culinary world, and by eighteen I had worked my way up to executive chef. The kitchen taught me how to lead under pressure, manage a team, and deliver results when there’s no room for excuses. In January 1997, at twenty-one years old, I made the move to Central Florida — leaving New Mexico behind and starting a new chapter. I continued working in the culinary field until about the age of twenty-five, then the path shifted. I went back to college and studied technology, starting my career as a computer field engineer and technician. The same discipline that ran a kitchen translated directly into IT: troubleshoot the problem, fix it fast, and don’t cut corners.
That hands-on foundation grew into something larger. Today, my wife Joanna and I co-own and operate Mynians IT Solutions — a managed service provider and VoIP company based in Winter Garden, Florida. With over twenty-five years in the technology industry, I’ve built a business around the same principles I’ve carried since day one: show up, do the work right, and take care of the people who trust you with their systems.
Family
Five Children, One Foundation
I’m the father of five children, and that will always be the most important line in any biography I’ll ever have. My first son, Tyson R. Mosby Jr., was born from one relationship. Later came two more sons — Chance D. Mosby and Damien “DJ” J. Mosby. On June 5, 2004, I married my wonderful and godly wife, Joanna C. Walker Mosby. Together we have two daughters: Gabriella R. Mosby and our youngest, Leilani C. Mosby.
Family is still the center of my life. While my older children have grown into their own lives and paths, I stay very involved with my youngest daughter Leilani — helping guide her, walking alongside her, and raising her to be a strong, godly young woman. That work doesn’t stop. And it shouldn’t.
How I Live
Faith, Fitness, and Fellowship
I’m a very active person. If you know me, you’ve probably heard me say something like:
“Let’s go for a morning jog.”
“How about a 25-mile bike ride this Saturday?”
I enjoy riding my road bike, getting out for early runs, and starting the morning with time with the Lord. Faith is an important part of my life, and church has always been the place where I feel most grounded. I’m also a people person — I enjoy connecting with others, meeting new people, and building real relationships that go deeper than small talk.
At the end of the day, family, faith, and staying active are what keep me going. And if you happen to run into me on a Sunday morning, there’s a good chance the first thing you’ll hear me say is:
“I’ll see you at church.”
